As a martial artist, he began studying Judo at the age of fifteen at the local YMCA. During high school his interest in the martial arts grew and he started studying American Shotokan Karate. While on active duty with the United States Army he continued with Shotokan. In additon, as an infantry officer he was introduced to hand-to-hand combat and special tactics before attending flight school. As a Shodan in Searcy’s American Kenpo, he continues with his studies under Grand Master Searcy Phd, MA of Kick Inc., Tarpon Springs, Florida. After forty (40) plus years as a Martial Artist he was inducted into the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame in June of 2003.
He is a LTC, USAR (retired) and a graduate of the Command and General Staff College. His primary duty while in uniform was that of an aviator and an aviation commander. He was awarded the Bronze Star Metal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, along with other awards and decorations.
Perry is a Certified Financial Planner (TM) designee and president of Arden & Associates. He has an M.B.A. from Indiana University and is a member of the faculty at The University of South Florida where he teaches investments, retirement planning and employee benefits at the Master’s level.
